The Brand

CrockeryWala is a Delhi-based homeware brand with a broad catalogue spanning crockery, cookware, drinkware, storage, and more. The challenge wasn't the products — it was helping customers navigate a wide catalogue without friction.

The brief was clear: build something that feels like a mobile app, not a standard Shopify template. Customers should land on the homepage and immediately see every category — no digging, no guessing. A fast, intuitive experience that mirrors what they're used to on top Indian marketplaces.

The Challenge

A wide homeware catalogue means customers land on the store and don't know where to start — leading to drop-offs before they've even seen the products. The challenge was to build a store that immediately communicates the full range of categories, guides customers to the right section instantly, and feels as smooth as a native app on mobile. All of this needed to work with fast load times despite a heavy product catalogue.

What I Built

Every Feature, Hand-Coded

1

Mobile App-Like Homepage

CrockeryWala's homepage was designed to feel like a top marketplace app — all categories visible at a glance, intuitive tapping flow, and zero friction to get a customer from landing to the right product. No scrolling through irrelevant banners, no buried navigation. Just clean, direct category access the moment they arrive.

2

Category-First Navigation

With a wide homeware catalogue — crockery, cookware, drinkware, storage, and more — the biggest UX challenge was helping customers find what they need fast. I built a prominent category grid on the homepage so every segment of the catalogue is immediately visible, just like the browsing experience on top Indian marketplaces.

3

Custom Collection Pages

Generic Shopify collection pages don't cut it for a catalogue this broad. I built fully custom collection pages with tailored layouts for each category — better filtering, clearer product hierarchy, and a consistent visual language that makes browsing feel effortless whether you're on mobile or desktop.

4

Speed-Optimised Build

Homeware stores carry a lot of product imagery. I built the store with performance as a core priority — optimised images, minimal scripts, clean Liquid, and no unnecessary apps. The result is a store that loads fast on Indian mobile connections, keeping bounce rates low and conversions up.

5

Multiple Category Handling

CrockeryWala spans multiple homeware subcategories. I structured the store so each category has its own clear presence — visually and in the navigation — without the store feeling cluttered. Customers always know where they are and what's available nearby.

6

Built to the Client's Vision

The brief was specific: create the experience customers expect from top marketplaces, but make it feel like CrockeryWala's own. Every layout decision, every category card, and every collection page was built to that exact brief — no templates, no shortcuts.

The Core Insight

“Most homeware stores lose customers in navigation. When someone comes to CrockeryWala looking for a dinner set, they should land on the homepage and see exactly where to go — not hunt through menus. I built the homepage like a category map, so the entire catalogue is one tap away.”
