Carla Braga is a Delhi-based women's footwear and bags brand with a distinct aesthetic and a loyal customer base. The brand had an existing Shopify presence, but the store wasn't performing the way the product deserved.

The ask was clear: don't redesign — rebuild. A complete revamp from scratch with the emphasis firmly on mobile experience, loading speed, and a customer journey where every section serves a purpose. This one was challenging — and genuinely exciting to build.

The Challenge

The existing store wasn't broken — it just wasn't working. Customers were landing on the site but not converting at the rate the brand deserved. The challenge was to rebuild from the ground up with a completely different philosophy: every section must earn its place by moving the customer toward a purchase. Combined with a mobile-first architecture and a no-plugin, no-theme build for maximum speed — this was a full technical and strategic rebuild.

Complete Revamp from Scratch

Carla Braga wasn't just a new design — it was a ground-up rebuild. The old store was replaced entirely with a custom-coded Shopify theme built specifically for a footwear and bags brand: the visual language, the layout logic, the navigation structure — nothing was carried over from the previous setup.

Mobile-First Architecture

The majority of Carla Braga's customers shop on mobile. Every section, every component, and every interaction was designed mobile-first — not adapted from desktop. The result is a store that feels native on a phone, with tap targets, spacing, and scroll behaviour all optimised for how real customers shop.

Customer Journey-Driven Design

Every section of the store was built with one question in mind: does this move the customer closer to checkout? From the hero to the collection grid to product details — each section has a clear next step. Customers are never left wondering what to do; the store guides them naturally toward buying.

Checkout-Connected Sections

Almost every section on the store has a direct path to checkout or product pages — no dead ends, no sections that just look good without serving a conversion purpose. Featured products, collection highlights, lookbook sections — all linked directly so a customer can act the moment they want to.

Fast Load on Every Network

No Shopify apps. No pre-built theme. Pure custom Liquid with Alpine.js and Tailwind CSS. The store loads fast even on slower Indian mobile connections — keeping bounce rates low and giving every visitor the best possible first impression. Speed is baked into the build, not bolted on.

Footwear & Bags Product Experience

Selling footwear and bags online requires more than a product grid. I built custom product pages with clear size guides, multiple image angles, and material callouts — giving customers everything they need to buy confidently without needing to visit a physical store.

Visual Identity Through Code

Carla Braga is a brand with a clear aesthetic — the store needed to feel premium without being heavy. Every design decision, from typography to spacing to hover states, was coded to reflect the brand's personality. No generic Shopify look; every pixel was intentional.

This wasn't a portfolio piece — it was a business tool. The store was built to do what a physical retail store does: welcome customers, help them discover the right product, answer their questions, and close the sale. Every structural and design decision serves that goal.

Zero third-party apps installed. Every feature was hand-coded — so nothing slows the store down and nothing breaks unexpectedly.

No Pre-Built Theme

Entirely custom Liquid, Alpine.js, and Tailwind CSS. The store looks exactly like Carla Braga, not like a Shopify template.
